Eat & Be Merry!

Let's face it, eating out is not the healthiest thing to do especially if it's too often!  But hubby and I love eating out about once a week or less depending on if there's any food at home by the end of the week.  And now that the boys are grown up, have girlfriends and do their own thing, we're sometimes left to ourselves.  Come Friday we're both tired and ready to wind down for the weekend.  Cooking dinner is the last thing on our mind unless there's some nice leftovers.

Quickway Japanese Hibachi

Quickway Japanese Hibachi is at Fair Oaks Mall, Fairfax.  I love their food, especially the Chicken Teriyaki Bento box. The chicken is so tasty with the steamed rice and everything in the Bento box is fresh and yummy.  The spring rolls are light and crunchy, the dumplings perfectly fried and the sushis so fresh.  You've got to try that place if you have never been there before.  And the prices are very reasonable ($8.95 for a Chicken Bento box).

My Favorite Muffin

I have always loved eating muffins ever since I moved to Melbourne, Australia.  Muffin Break was my favorite place to go for a delicious muffin and a cappucino.  They have the best muffins that are cake like and with so many different flavors and nuts.  I have not found any muffin place here to match Muffin Break until I found My Favorite Muffin in Fairfax.  They just opened last week and it happened that we walked past yesterday evening after 5pm. Because they just opened, they have this special offer of 50% off everything during the last hour.  And we definitely took advantage of that offer and bought a 6 pack muffin.  They even gave us an additional one for free :).

First Watch Daytime Cafe - Fairfax

If you are looking for a nice place that offers hearty breakfast along with a great selection of healthy options, look no more.  First Watch Cafe is the place to go.  It has a really nice decor, great service and great food.  The last time I went with my sister, I ordered the Butternut Squash omelette with salad and bread.  The omelette was big and by the time I finished my plate, I was really full.  It was delicious though!  Remember to go early since there is always a line if you go later and the line gets long pretty quickly!

Nando's Peri Peri - our favorite place to eat

We love going to Nando's Peri Peri every now and then and most of the time, we  order our favorite chicken platter with two large sides.  Their chicken is so tender and juicy and even more delicious with their wide selection of sauces. We never fail to enjoy our meal when we go there.  The decor is really nice and it feels very cozy.  We used to have to go to Woodbridge or Springfield Mall to find one but now they have opened two new locations in Fairfax at the Mosaic District and in Arlington.  The Fairfax location is so much closer for us.

I have been to Nando's in Mauritius and it seems that the food tastes better here at the US locations.  The decor is just as nice though with paintings from Mauritian artists up on the wall.
